Fossil Fair is located in Southwest Ohio in the
United States and run by a group of talented, energetic
friends.
"Fossils in Ohio?" you
may ask.
YES! 508-438
million years ago, Ohio was covered by a shallow sea, called the Sauk
Sea. Erosion from nearby mountains caused sediment to accumulate and many of
the sea organisms were buried. Locked in an airtight muddy blanket under layers
and layers of earth, the sediment hardened and caused the creation of the
fossils that we offer you here today.
Ordovician rocks
in Ohio are world famous for the abundance, variety, and excellent preservation
of the fossils they contain. Among the more abundant types of fossils collected
from Ordovician rocks are brachiopods, bryozoans, gastropods, and trilobites.
Corals, cephalopods and crinoids are also
plentiful.
